Julia Childrey Julia M. Childrey, Founder & President

Julia is the Founder and President of Beautyful Waves, Inc. Julia has a vision and passion for helping others and GOD placed on her heart to assist at risk girls and provide them with the resources they need to be successful adults. Julia currently serves as a Deputy Superintendent with St. Louis County Department of Justice Services. She has worked for St. Louis County for the past 26 years and has held numerous positions during her tenure. Julia has a very accomplished background in the areas of communication and leadership that has allowed her to be sought out by other law enforcement agencies around the country to teach on Program Management/Development and Leadership. Julia was one of the first managers within all Departments of County Government chosen to participate in an extensive County Leadership Initiative. She was a Program Manager for the County Jail Based Drug Treatment Program and also served as a Case Manager in this program, where she provided case management to females court ordered to drug treatment. Julia has served as a member of the Task Force and Advisory Board for the Missouri Restorative Justice Coalition of Missouri. She served as a Trainer for the National Institute of Corrections.

Julia is highly respected in her field of work and has been recognized at all levels for her dedication and commitment. Julia is active in both her community and her church. She is a native of Spring Valley, IL. Julia is a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University. Julia is the proud mother of 12 year old Cassie whom she adopted at age two. Cassie is also credited for the name "Beautyful Waves"!


Michael Murphy Michael D. Murphy I, Vice President

Michael serves as Vice President for Beautyful Waves, Inc. He has been with us from its inception and is truly dedicated to seeing that the future for our young ladies transitioning to adulthood is one that will equip them to be successful in all areas of their lives.

Michael is truly someone that has the heart to serve. He is currently employed with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier and has been in this position for the past 15 years. He is a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy Reserves and currently serves as Officer in Charge of one of the largest reserve units here in St. Louis. Prior to joining the Navy, Michael served in the United States Marine Corps for 11 years. He brings over 25 years of leadership experience and service to our community and country. He continues to mentor, guide, and lead countless young men and women both in the military and through his church. He is actively involved in a program called the Men's Locker Room, a ministry dedicated to reaching men of all ages throughout the St. Louis area, helping them find their purpose and letting them know that they are not alone in their struggles. Michael has received several awards for his excellence as a leader. He was recognized by the United States Navy League of Greater St. Louis and was the recipient of the Excellence in Leadership Award 2010. Michael is the father of three amazing children. He is also a Certified Personal Trainer and runs a fitness boot camp called Hard Chargers. He was born and raised here in St. Louis and graduated from Roosevelt High School.
